Time moves slowly in moments of panic. Shadows were trembling around the being, dark and clotted shadows, seeping out from every gap in the creature’s robes like water. The shadows converged at the creature’s feet and mixed with the air, just as if several rivers merged to flow into a sea. From beneath its hood, only the creature’s glowing red eyes could be seen. Despite its frail appearance, the black robe and burning eyes made it look incredibly powerful and terrifying.

Regner readied his bow to make the first move and aimed it at Entropist, then released the string. The arrow shot like lightning, halting exactly between Entropist and Regner. It was as though time had stopped for a second. A moment later, Entropist, with a simple gesture of his hand, sent the arrow back at Regner with the same speed. As Regner tried to move to the left, he felt a warmth on his shoulder. He noticed the wild narrowing of Entropist’s eyes, like a predator focusing on its prey, and when he looked at his shoulder, he saw the arrow lodged there. Trying to ignore the pain, he attempted to draw another arrow with his right hand, but it only worsened the pain. All he could do now was watch the battle between Lathan and Gorka.
