Crusader Kings III and understanding the Medieval Ages

Crusader Kings III is a medieval-age strategy game created by Paradox Development Studio. It was released on 1 September 2020. The game lets you play a certain emperor, khan or petty king, etc. The game has certain differences from other games. For example, besides other games, this game does not end when your character dies. It goes on until your lineage has completely dried. You do not control one character but one dynasty. You can create your dynasty or you can choose from other historic people. There are historically accurate emperors and kings which adds to the game’s reality.

You can choose two timelines 867 AD and 1066 AD (Figure 2). In 867, empires and kingdoms are more barbaric, and opening wars and increasing the borders of your kingdom is easier. However, in 1066 AD, empires, and kingdoms adopted the feudal ways which mean you cannot open war without having a claim on it. Historical accuracy of the emperors etc. with their lineage is adding more realism to the game however, game mechanics are also very good to feel as a medieval ruler. Random actions are added to the game and the game gives some options to respond. These little random events create realism. Responses can give you dread, prestige, gold, etc. Random acts can fail. The game has an “intrigue” mechanic which allows players to act upon the back of their rivals, or enemies. This…
